Curriculum Development and Revision

Purpose: YRI collaborates with OCFS to develop quarterly webinars to address supervisory training. Topics may include, but are not limited to assessment, family engagement, safety, and risk. 

Description: Develop new curricula as requested by OCFS, as well as revise current curricula to address emerging needs and/or reflect changes in law, regulation, policy, and procedures. All new and revised curricula will reflect New York State’s emphasis on family engagement, well-being, values, and practices. This may include revisions to content and delivery mechanism.

Materials Development

Manuals

Purpose: Through the use of these manuals, caseworkers, supervisors, attorneys, administrators, family court, and OCFS personnel will enhance their knowledge, skills and abilities to overcome local obstacles to permanency, and to promote child safety and well-being.

Description: YRI will develop manuals or program guides at the request of OCFS to guide practice in accordance with policy and practice standards.  YRI will design, develop and produce manuals for use by local social service districts, provider agencies, and/or OCFS Home and Regional Offices for training in administration of New York State’s public child welfare programs involving preventive, child protective, foster care, and adoption services. 

Materials

Purpose: Through the use of these materials, caseworkers, supervisors, attorneys, administrators and family court personnel will develop the knowledge, skills and abilities to overcome local obstacles to permanency and promote child safety and well-being.

Description: YRI will develop desk aids such as, but not limited to, Safety Guides or Safety and Risk reference cards, or other materials for use by local district social services staff, provider agency/residential child care staff, other community service providers including representatives from the family court, youth bureaus and probation, foster and adoptive parents and OCFS staff.  YRI will design, develop and produce materials for use by local social service districts, provider agencies, and/or OCFS Home and Regional Offices for training in administration of New York State’s public child welfare programs involving preventive, child protective, foster care, and adoption services. 

Online Help System Development and Maintenance

Purpose: YRI will provide timely asynchronous, online help content within the Child Care Facility System (CCFS) and Facility Application and Management System (FAMS) application to promote more effective, efficient use of the system.

Description: YRI will develop and maintain content in the CCFS Help system. 

  • Release Notes are a notice to users on the changes that will be coming with new system updates and are specific to Licensed/Registered or Legally exempt programs.

  • Help Topics are easy to use “how to's” posted within the CCFS system in a searchable format. Help Topics will be created or revised in response to new releases. 

  • At a Glance Tip Sheets for system users will highlight Help Topics related to a new release.
